More Information

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are pharmaceutical-grade, gel-like injectables designed specifically to restore volume, provide lift, smooth out wrinkles, and fill in deep folds. They are very popular due to their effectiveness and versatile nature. We use them to rejuvenate, volumise, plump, and sculpt attractive facial contours. New ways of using dermal fillers are constantly being discovered. Depending on their ingredients, some dermal fillers have added benefits such as stimulating collagen and improving skin hydration. Dermal fillers have become a true contender to plastic surgery over the years, helping people avoid invasive and expensive cosmetic operations.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers are the most popular and safest type of dermal fillers. They consist of stabilised, non-animal-based hyaluronic acid. The HA gel is skin-friendly and integrates well with the tissues, closely resembling the hyaluronic acid that exists naturally in the body. Hyaluronic acid fillers improve skin texture by helping the skin retain hydration, and they are long-lasting yet dissolvable.

What are the potential side effects?
  • Mild swelling or redness
  • Bruising (rare)
  • Temporary numbness
  • Allergic reaction (extremely rare)
  • Infection
  • Granuloma (rare)
  • Vascular injury or skin necrosis (very rare)
  • Greyish discolouration (Tyndall effect)
  • Asymmetry or migration (can be corrected)
What is the best filler for the nose?

We use Juvéderm® Voluma, a high G-prime hyaluronic acid filler ideal for nose correction. It offers long-lasting lift and tissue integration, typically lasting up to 18 months.

Are dermal fillers safe?

Choose hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers for facial injection because they are safer. Any other fillers are riskier; the reason is HA fillers can be easily and quickly dissolved by hyaluronidase (e.g. Hyalase). This is an important safety net should we ever need to remove it.

Pharmaceutical companies do not harvest HAs from animals or human beings; they made them synthetically in the laboratories. The products are sterile, vegan-friendly, and safe. HA fillers are not permanent, but they are very long-lasting. Your body’s natural existing hyaluronidase enzymes will slowly disintegrate the HA fillers, turn them into water and absorb the water. No residuals will remain. HA fillers are non-toxic, biodegradable, and safe. Millions of people worldwide have tried them.

Can fillers straighten a crooked nose?

Yes, with skillful placement, slight deviations can be corrected. Note: this may slightly widen the bridge, which is often acceptable in men.

Can fillers fix a hooked or bumpy nose?

Yes. Filler can be placed above and below bumps or used to lift the nasal tip, creating a straighter, more balanced appearance.

Does filler make your nose look bigger?

No. Strategic placement can actually make the nose appear slimmer by improving projection and definition.

Can fillers fix a deviated septum?

No. Deviated septums affect the internal nasal structure and require surgical septoplasty.

Is the procedure painful?

Only mild discomfort or pressure is expected. A numbing cream and lidocaine-infused fillers ensure comfort.

How long does it last?

Results typically last 9–12 months, with some variation depending on metabolism, skin type, and lifestyle.

How is the procedure performed?

We use topical anaesthetic, precise markings, and microfine needles or cannulas to inject filler safely and accurately. Every treatment is bespoke.

Can nose fillers cause blindness?

This is extremely rare (52 global cases ever recorded). At Harley Street MD, we use careful techniques, inject slowly with small amounts, and avoid high-risk areas.

Can I get treatment on the same day?

Yes. We allocate a 1-hour slot for new patients, allowing time for consultation, consent, and treatment.

Do’s and Don’ts Before Treatment:
  • Avoid aspirin for 7 days, and vitamin E, Omega-3, NSAIDs, alcohol, exercise for 2 days before
  • Eat and hydrate before your visit
  • Wear contact lenses instead of glasses if possible
  • Avoid other treatments (e.g. laser, peel) for 2 weeks prior
Who should not get nose fillers?
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Severe allergies
  • Active skin infections
  • Those who had skin resurfacing
  • Those with severe nasal asymmetry needing surgery
What if I find out I’m pregnant after the procedure?

No clinical trials have been conducted in pregnant women, so fillers aren't licensed. However, no harm has been observed in observational studies. Fillers will naturally degrade.

How long is the recovery time?

You’ll see results immediately. Swelling or bruising is usually minimal. You can return to work and daily activities straight away.

Post-Treatment Instructions:
  • No touching, rubbing or pressure on the area
  • Avoid alcohol, makeup, glasses, strenuous exercise for 2 days
  • Avoid sun exposure, sauna, laser/peel for 2 weeks
  • Sleep on your back
  • Consider Arnica or Bromelain supplements for bruising
  • Can I wear glasses after nose filler?

Avoid wearing glasses for 2 weeks. If necessary, use lightweight frames briefly.

Can I fly after nose filler?

Avoid flying for 1 week if possible, due to increased swelling risk. Follow-up care is recommended within 2 weeks.

Do I need to pay for a top-up?

If a top-up is needed (after swelling has subsided), additional filler is charged at £450 per syringe, since new product is required. The follow-up appointment itself remains free of charge.

    Can you dissolve nose fillers?

Yes. We use hyaluronidase to dissolve HA fillers, typically within days. This service is free if done within 3 months of treatment by us.
